A Unique Video Productions is an award-winning video production
facility that operates from Owensboro, Kentucky.
Michael J. Hicks, owner, has been producing videos since the late
1980's. His interest in the artform helped pave his way though the early 1990's at Owensboro Community College. As a student
in the television department under the guidance of Tim Smith, Michael was appointed director of the student film project,
"Abandoned Desires". The finished project was aired on local television.
In 1993, Michael made his way to Western
Kentucky University. Majoring in Broadcast Production and minoring in Philosophy, he soon began making his mark at Western
with his creative and innovative productions. "Sisyphus" won first place in the Film and Video Festival and "A Guitar"
won second place.
In 1995, Michael was contacted by a Louisville based band, "Adhesive Love" to produce a video for
an upcoming Music and Video Award Competition. Micheal went on to win as director in the Fox Music Video Awards. Hicks was
nominated in a total of 6 categories including; Best Director, Best Overall Video, and Best-Louisville Based Video.
After graduating with a degree in Broadcasting from Western Kentucky University, Michael was able
to focus on his production company, A Unique Video.
In 2004, A Unique Video Productions was a part of the marketing
campaign that took top honors at the state-wide Traverse Awards. The award was for best marketing campaign. The video can
be seen at rest stops across the great state of Kentucky.
A Unique Video Productions is a WINNER for the prestigeous
Aegis Award for it's documentary "50 Years of Service: A Mission of Faith". The video covers the first 50 years
of Immaculate Parish located in the heart of Owensboro, KY.
